Maths: in maths I have learned that to draw plans of three-D shapes you have to look at it and visualize it from the different views. I have learned that you don’t have to say when the shape moves down because it is only a 2-D drawing. I have also learned that to draw cubes on isometric paper is frustrating at the beginning, but I think that I have got the hang of it. I found out that it is easier to shape in all of the front faces to help me see it better.

English: In English I have learned different more interesting sentence starters. To do this our class had to re-write Cinderella starting with all the letters of the alphabet in order. For example After Cinderella moved into her stepmother’s house, her father died. Because of his death, The step-mother took over. Cinderella was not liked by he step-mother, so Cinderella was forced to do chores , And so on until you get to Z. I found that the hardest letter to think of as a sentence starter was X because the only thing I could think of was xylophone, X-ray, X-mas, and all of these words do not fit in any of the story. I just said that they where dancing to the music of the Xylophone. In a different order of words, of course

Maths: In maths I have learned that to find the total number of symmetry you have to know how to find the number of aces and how to find the number of rotational symmetry. You need to know that because it is just them two put together. For example: A triangle would be the answer six because there is three aces of symmetry and three rotations of symmetry, 3+3=6.

We are making a boil up, and this is me making Motu Motu. It consists of just flour and water. It is like a dough that we broke up and used it over the watercress and pork and other foods that were in the pot. We got to eat the boil up at the end. Below is me weaving flax. I made a flower. I also made a bull-roarer. A bull-roarer is a piece of wood made into a rugby ball shape. You spin it around on a string as fast as you can and it will make a humming noise. you have to sandpaper the edges to make it more aerodynamic and it helps it to spin faster in the air. The thinner you make the shape the higher the pitch of the humming sound.

Maths: In maths I am learning to use my knowledge of quadrilaterals to find the missing angle. All that you have to do is: you have to know that all of the angles in a quadrilateral adds up to a sum of 360 degrees, so all you have to do is add all the known angles together and take that away from 360 degrees and that is the missing angle. if the missing angle is something like 2x then you just divide the overall answer by two

Maths: in maths I have learned that to find unknown angles in triangles you have to: When finding exterior angles on triangles you add both the two angles on the other side.  To find the angle on the interior when you have been given the exterior angle then all you have to do is take away the interior angle from the exterior angle and then you get the unknown angle.

English: In English I am learning to use active and passive voices. and active voice has less to be words such as was, is, and are. We are also learning how to use descriptive language which means to show not tell. E.g. Instead of saying: the happy dog jumped. You could say: the dog was greeting everyone with a giant smile.

In English this week I am learning about different types of sentences. The three different ones are called  simple sentences, compound sentences and a complex sentences. A simple sentence is a sentence that is a single thought that makes sense on its own. They also have to have a subject, verb and an object E.G Frank burned the toast. the subject would be frank, the verb would be burned, and the object would be toast. A compound sentence is a sentence that has two or more thoughts in the single sentence E.G I have a dog and he is brown. the reason that this is a compound sentence is because it could make sense like this: I have a dog. He is brown. A complex sentence is a sentence with two or more thoughts but it has a sentence that can stand alone and a sentence that relies on the other sentence and these a connected in one sentence E.G she could paint amazing picture although she was only six, although she was only six doesn’t make sense just on its own.

This is some of my maths that I done and scanned this term. It is about dividing fraction. The way that I divide fractions is to multiply them together and reverse the second number E.G. 1/2 divided by 1/2, so it would be like saying 1/2 X 2/1 and then you just multiply across so the answer would be 2/2 which is just simplified to 1 and that is the answer. I got this work out of a book called nelson maths 7 and it was exercise 8.1. We use this book very commonly when we are doing maths work and we have several of them in the class to work from.

This is my science fair that I have done

I chose to do it about carbon dioxide in water to help it freeze or slower. My hypothesis was the water would cool to a lower temperature with the carbon dioxide and would rise or fall depending on the temperature of the carbon dioxide. I think this because water can’t go to as lower temperature as the carbon dioxide. The hypothesis was correct and it raised in temperature when I put the carbon dioxide into the water. It went to a lower temperature as well.
